the standard we work to
we build this website to the web content accessibility guidelines (wcag) 2.1, level aa. on september 23, 2026 we self-assessed every page, including the full order and checkout flow, with automated axe checks at phone and desktop sizes plus a keyboard-only walkthrough. we don’t use accessibility overlay widgets; we fix issues in the site itself.
what we do
- everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus ring and a “skip to content” link on every page.
- text and controls meet aa color contrast; information never relies on color alone.
- photos have text alternatives; decorative stickers are hidden from screen readers.
- forms have visible labels and say what went wrong, next to the field.
- the item sheet and your order drawer keep focus inside while open and close with escape.
- checkout, including the payment fields, works with a keyboard and a screen reader.
- if your device asks for reduced motion, animations stop and every section shows fully.
known limitations
- the map is an embedded openstreetmap component we don’t control. the address, the “open in maps” links and the hours are always in plain text beside it.
- the card fields at checkout are hosted by Clover, our payment processor. we test them with each release; if they give you trouble, tell us and we’ll take the order another way.
- the animated “daily pour” lettering is decorative and holds still under reduced motion.
fixing what we find
we re-run the checks with every release. an issue someone reports is acknowledged within 5 business days, and a fix for a barrier on the ordering path ships within 30 days.
other ways to order
you can always order at the counter at michigan & monroe. the app has the same menu and order tracking if it suits you better. the full address and hours are on the contact page.
tell us
if anything on the site or app gets in your way, email support@dailypresscafe.comwith the subject “accessibility”. a person reads every message and replies within 5 business days. if you’re not happy with the answer, ask for the owner in the same thread and it goes straight to them.
